I think its kind of better. They were charging like $5.00 Per Character on the original. The $39.99 adds 12 characters and 8 stages, you would have ended up paying more buying these things piece by piece.
Since its not downloadable content, I can play my disc on friends xbox and all characters will be on the disc and not on my console back home!
Agree...Xbox 720 Holiday 2013. While PS4 will be trying to launch as early as possible in 2014....may end up being around October 2014.
I hope Xbox does not do something dumb like nintendo and make some proprietary drive that does not play Blu-Ray...to me it seems like a proprietary drive and proprietary disc would cost more.
I think MS disc size has been sufficient so far. I am sure them choosing DVD over Blu Ray from the start made the system at least $100.00 cheaper to the consumer...which I think was worth it.
Now with the new update, there will be an extra 2GB of space on disc so they will not need to compress as much.

I'm Ready!!! 2013/14 Xbox 720 and 2014/15 PS4!!! Is good timing anyway!!! Although the current 360 and PS3 could perhaps test out an "OnLive" type of service to see how people like it. I would imagine MOST Xbox owners have high speed internet anyway. Microsoft will buy OnLive one day and they are looking forward to it.

Not at all...its gonna be the ONLY new console. Many will automatically assume since its newest its best...casual gamers. The next Xbox and PS most likely will not be out till 2014-2015...then nintendo can launch a new system in 2017-2018 and keep this trend going.
maybe nintendo will come out with another system 2 years after PS4 that will blow away everything graphically....thats perhaps their game plan. I really dont care cause thats a long time from now. o well.

sounds about right. nintendo needs to go ahead and come out with a wii2 with improved graphics and HD for $299.99 or less. This would be hugh especially if the graphics are better than 360 and PS3 which have no new system coming for at least 3 years.
A near 4GB increase is quite substantial. That's roughly 55% more space!

I agree. Going from 6.8GB to 10.72GB of space is a big increase...nearly 4GB!!!
Edit: By looking at the picture, I assume the 10.72GB is the game it self and the large copy protection file is separate, meaning that these disc actually hold around 12GB of data....I wonder how MS managed to do this.
Perhaps they are going to make the compression a little more efficient. So if 1 GB adds 15% more space...and better compression adds another 15%...that will be quite huge.
If you do the math, a 15% increase in compression equates to about 1.17 GB more space on top of the newly 1 GB added.
This would perhaps give MS enough extra space to use that Mega Mesh technology which seems data hungry. Games would perhaps stay the same size...just better graphics.

I don't know about anyone else, but when I went to go see Avatar it made my head and eye balls hurt. I could not imagine watching tv and playing video games in 3D on a continual basis.
I think they need to re-design the console and make it look more like a high end piece of electronics with shiny blacks and glass edges....then change the name to Nintendo 7...and make it play blu-ray disc.
I don't know what to think about the big touch screen control pad, I have read the console can only support one of them. It will be interesting to see how these work and i'm also curious what the other control pads will look like.
